An Inside Look at a Career with FTI

FTI’s all-inclusive job shadow program offers a unique learning experience for today’s high school students. During these full-day events running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., students explore a variety of career opportunities within our organization, either in the field or in the office.

Our on-site events include:

  • Exclusive tours of our facilities.
  • Hands-on activities with operations, energy efficiency/automation, estimating, engineering, CAD and 3D modeling.
  • Industry-leading speakers highlighting the latest industry trends.
  • Networking opportunities with talent development and project management staff.

STEM Job Shadow

Explore career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

  • Opportunities: Engage in hands-on problem-solving tasks related to various STEM fields.
  • Education Requirements: Most STEM careers require higher education degrees, such as associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degrees, depending on the field (e.g., engineering, data science, sales and marketing, administrative).
  • Work Environment: STEM professionals often work in offices, engineering labs or technology centers, where they engage in tasks like research, design, analysis and business or product development.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: STEM careers are heavily focused on innovation, using technology and scientific principles to solve complex problems and develop new products, processes or systems.

Skilled Trades Job Shadow

Explore career opportunities in construction, manufacturing and technical fields.

  • Opportunities: Learn how to get started in a skilled trade including different career paths and our apprenticeship program.
  • Education Requirements: Skilled trades careers typically require specialized training, apprenticeships or certifications that can often be learned on the job or concurrent with actual job duties. The focus is on skill development through hands-on experience.
  • Work Environment: Skilled trades professionals often work on construction sites or manufacturing facilities where they build, repair, maintain and renovate physical structures or systems.
  • Physical Demands and Safety: Skilled trades careers emphasize the importance of safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
