A Culture of Safety

Uncompromised Focus on Safety

Whether you’re on the front lines of the electrical trades, creating assemblies at Excellerate® or working in one of our office locations, FTI’s commitment to safety is present in every task. Our award-winning safety record is achieved by all team members, led by our safety team and the programs tailored to meet our goals. We bring strategic solutions to our customers that drive productivity, value and safety.

Our Safety Program in Action

Operational Risk Management (ORM)

Our ORM daily work briefing provides insight into the changing work environment for our team members.

Short Service Employees (SSE)

Pairing a skilled electrician with a new team member brings a visual reminder to the jobsite or manufacturing floor, allowing for greater situational awareness.

What’s Your Why?

With a purpose of preemptively focusing on our personal reasons for being safe, it urges our teams to be intentional in their work environment, and to never settle for anything less than the safest work possible.

Ladder Last

Ladder Last utilizes preconstruction planning upfront, reducing the need for ladders on the jobsite by designing out work at heights or allowing for lifts in their place.

No Knives

When we saw a pattern of safety incidents caused by knives, we went to work to prevent them by eliminating fixed-blade knives in our work environments.

Investing in Safety Through Training & Education

We prioritize the safety of our team members through tailored workshops and training programs, focused on hands-on injury prevention and mitigating common hazards such as shocks, falls, slips and cuts. Our team members undergo more than 20 hours of rigorous safety training each year.

Whether team members are hearing safety messages through our daily ORM meetings, via email in our daily safety bulletin or through one of the 30,000+ safety audits done each year—our partners and team members know our commitment is to them.

A SAFE HOUR IS A PRODUCTIVE HOUR

Since introducing the productivity program in 2009, FTI has realized a 85% improvement in primary time, far exceeding the construction industry average of 40%. FTI’s productivity program has been proven to increase safety by reducing risks and helping team members spot and eliminate potential hazards.

Through the application of industrialized construction and the work in our Excellerate manufacturing facilities, we’re able to move large quantities of work off project jobsites to a controlled work environment, accelerating project schedules while providing the safest conditions for our team members.
