Overview: Design & Install Plant Expansion

The Boldt Company, the general contractor for Grande Cheese’s fresh expansion project, reached out to FTI to provide design assistance and installation of a 30,000-square-foot fresh cheese plant expansion, which included the building’s core and shell, three production lines and processing equipment. FTI and Boldt have worked closely on many projects over the years, and they recognize the quality of work in the services FTI offers.

Challenges: Design Adjustments During Installation

FTI made design adjustments during installation by communicating closely with the other project teams and keeping the client’s needs in mind. The 19 team members working on the jobsite remained flexible while updating and changing elements to fit the design.

In addition to adapting to these quick changes, two of the process lines were manufactured in Germany. A site installation supervisor was brought in from Germany but their arrival was delayed by three weeks, shortening the time they were available to assist. Throughout these challenges, the teams persisted and completed the installation within the required time window.

Solution: On Time & Under Budget

FTI’s commitment to creating the best value for their customers led to a project that finished on time and under budget despite unexpected changes throughout installation.
