Overview: Multi-Million-Dollar Prefabrication Project

FTI designed and installed overhead trestles to support low-, medium- and high-voltage conveyance for large data centers across several states. We used our Excellerate® division to fabricate overhead trestle systems to hold the electrical cabling required to connect power to various pieces of equipment, such as electrical buildings or generators. Overall, these systems eliminate the need for on-site underground power duct banks, replacing them with modularized 50-foot sections that can be easily deployed on a jobsite.

Challenges: Speed To Market & Quality

The client wanted a power system that would work in a variety of sites and climates. Installing the electrical conveyance overhead instead of underground results in a design that is usable across multiple sites. An added benefit to running power conveyance overhead is the reduction in temperature adjustments required for different soil and climates. Manufacturing a large portion of the structural steel and cable components off site reduces job site space requirements.

Solutions: Repeatable, Interchangeable Components Created

FTI worked closely with the client to design, manufacture and install systems that could consistently be applied across various sites. The trestles were installed quickly, increasing the customer’s speed to market and reducing the overall timeline for construction. This allowed the client to generate revenue ahead of schedule.
